We’re not sure if it’s official because we can’t find any formal press release BUT news making the rounds is that the Technics SL 1200 and 1210’s are to be discontinued. Apparently Panasonic, the manufacturers of the Technics turntable, announced that they would stop production in February next year because of a decline in sales. We did find this statement from Panasonic spokesman Ian North: “It is a sad day today but due to low sales globally in analogue turntables a decision to stop production has been made on Technics Turntables.”

So what does this mean? It means that digital has won the digital vs vinyl war.
