There are moments of clarity, when you embrace the quiet within and the serenity of the mind. Moments when the sense of self is so poignant and non- menacing. Moments when all is good and the sound is pure and the sponsoring thought goes on a journey with the music. The way forward seems clear, but you know its inconsequential - all that is of the essence and of any importance is now....

South Africa was shocked at the news that Teazers founder Lolly Jackson had been gunned down. Perhaps the one up side to this is that his death was in no way race related, which is often how crime in South Africa is perceived (and reported by the media).Love him or hate him, but Lolly left his mark. I remember doing stand-up comedy at a Women’s Day breakfast out in the East Rand a few years back. Lolly was there with some male dancers from Teaze-hers...

Originally posted on my blog site http://leeonanotherescapade.wordpress.com/ on November 10, 2009The past few weeks have been really busy, but very interesting. The beauty of being out of your comfort zone in a completely new environment is that you spontaneously observe all that is around you with the keen sense of a child. Every experience, observation taste and smell sometimes feels oddly familiar, but mostly it’s as if lif...

Originally posted on my blog site October 11, 2009 I’ve been here just over a week now and have realised that more than anything else, Iran is a country of contrast. Not the black and white contrast of a chess board, but the white to grey to black contrast on a 1980’s TV set.The rigid rules designed to create order and control the moral compass of its citizens seem to have given rise to an alternative underground society of sorts. I cannot help but notice the irony and under...

Originally posted on my blog site 03 October 2009.I’m finally in Iran! Somehow I figured that being here would be the beginning of all insights, adventures and strangely melodramatic mishaps but I was sorely mistaken. It seems that the most eventful part of this escapade lay in getting here. There have been several changes to flight dates, lots of red tape to negotiate and numerous farewells to plan and more commonly cancel…..Finally however I found myself on board a fli...

It's kinda similar to ADSL - Asymmetric - you DL more than you upload right? Anyway, so I'm here right now plugged into the machine. I'm randomly assimilating information about the machine. This headline catches my eye on one of my feeds (notice the semantics here?) Feed - To...

The date is the 2nd of July. After traveling nearly nonstop for over 36 hours I finally arrived at the excellent Hispera hotel in Bilbao. I could write an entire other diary involving the dodgy hotels, flight near misses, bad Chinese food and bus crashes I experienced leading up to today! But we'll leave that for another time. After meeting up with Brian Cross, my part time agent, organizer and translator for the trip, we headed out into the city to find ...

So I'm sitting at my desk this morning going through some music for our next Flight party and I discover the most emotional piece of music I've heard in ages.I listen to the words and I almost break into tears from sheer emotion... and then it dawned on me... Even with my 8 years of music school, I could NEVER begin to empart such emotion on someone else by composing a piece of music because it's simply not who I am.Jealousy? Perhaps...Envy? Most definitelyGod bles...
